I just bought a new All-For-One Kameleon universal remote because I was sick of the clutter of remote controls on my coffee table. This thing rocks!
Ran software update and got new iTunes, QuickTime, and 10.4.4. I wasn't really expecting anything exciting. Fired up the old blog to fix a couple problems and I have HTMLArea in Safari now! Awesome!!! Not quite. There are still some weird little bugs that I'm just finding out about. This is the second time I've entered this post. Now I know that you can't switch to HTML mode.
Moving sucks. I Packed the bookshelf tonight. So much more to do. Moving day is approaching quickly.
Wrote a little shell script to clean up the jEdit backup files. Makes navigating in Finder much easier.
I'm stoked about the new job. Also scared to death. I'm sure everything will work out. It's normal to be nervous, right?
I think I'm going to check the blog into CVS tonight. Maybe install a couple for some friends - let 'em break it :) Night.

It's been a while since my last post.
I finally met Amy. Seems like a really nice girl. She has a great house in a really cool neighborhood. Maybe a block from the water, nice trees. Really great place. We decided on a date that I'd move, everything was starting to work out. When I went back to work three days later, I put in my notice. I Also notified my landlord that I'd would be leaving in two weeks. Two days later, Amy calls and tells me that she's getting another job in TAMPA and the room won't be available anymore. Nine days before I'm leaving, she's telling me, essentially, I'm homeless. I basically had one day to find an apartment because nowhere is open on Sunday and I have to work like hell this last week. I am supposed to start the new job next Tuesday so I need to be down there this weekend. I did manage to find a place and I overnight-ed my application and deposit tonight. With any luck, I'll get in. I was pretty pissed with Amy but it looks like it's...

Lots of stuff...
Week started off learning about a CSS/display bug in Netscape 8. The site I was working on was a fixed width and height centered in the viewport with a scrollable div that contains the primary content. I had to add a "overflow: hidden;" to the BODY tag to prevent IE 5.2 Mac from displaying unneeded scrollbars on the site. Doing that caused random rendering issues within the scrolling div. More often than not, anything inside a P tag would cut off about a half inch below where the P starts. Once in a while, the page would render correctly, but I'd say 90% of the time it was wrong. The content was there, it seemed to be hidden behind something though. If I could select something on the page and drag down, whatever was in the P would scroll! Most peculiar. Removing the "overflow: hidden;" fixed the problem. If anyone else has this problem, I hope this was useful :)

Thanksgiving sucked. I spent it sitting around my house drinking all day long. Very depressing. Geoff came down so it wasn't so bad. We had Krystal for Thanksgiving dinner which was quite disappointing. I was really looking forward to having a "real" meal for Thanksgiving. On top of staying in this shithole, my car started to knock very loudly. I wonder how much longer it'll be until it just falls apart while I'm driving down the road. I'll be driving it to Tennessee at the end of this month so hopefully I'll have all the problems taken care of before then. I'm going to Dave's house on Saturday to fix all the things that are wrong... at least I hope.
Well, it looks like it's finally over with Kitten. She was supposed to call me last night an explain what the hell is going on with us, but of course, she didn't. God only knows what her excuse is. Whatever.
I talked with Stacey for a few hours last night and we made plans for her to come see me on her...

After not having a stereo in my car since I got it 6 months ago, I finally installed one in it tonight. Well, I mostly sat there while Josh rigged it up to the fuse box. Someone really rigged this fucking car before I had it. They added a switch under the dash that, for some reason, turns on the backup lights... Not the tail lights, just the backup lights. They also hardwired the stereo into the fusebox because they must've done something to fuck up the normal stereo plugs. I say that because the normal stereo plugs don't work anymore - that's why we had to hardwire it back to the fusebox again. Quite a rig, but it fits with the rest of the damn thing and it works so I couldn't care less.
Over the weekend I installed the shades in my bedroom after having them for 2 weeks. What a pain in the ass. If I could find the asshole who invented the square headed screw, I swear, I would murder them with my bare hands. I had such big plans for the weekend... Mostly cleaning the...

I did some more work on my blog. It's coming along quite nicely. Got trackbacks working, finally. It wasn't too difficult once I wrapped my head around the whole concept. Pretty cool idea.
Kitten is really sick. She called in to work today and has been laying around watching Napoleon Dynamite all day long. Lucky her. Work was awful!
For some reason, any client who had a relatively new version of our E3 software were suddenly unable to take credit card payments. We found the problem and fixed it but we lost our whole day because of it. Strangely enough, the issue never occured before today. Everyone was completely bumfounded. Must've been some configuration change when the new firewall got installed.
I'm still looking for a new job. I sent my resume in to Digg not too long ago. I saw a post...

After a _long_ break, I decided to come back to my blog and add some more functionality. Now I can add rss feeds without having to use phpMyAdmin... Quite nice. Other than that, nothing new to report.
Let's see, what else. Halloween was yesterday. I spent it at home... by myself... drinking... trying to fall asleep. Meanwhile, all my friends (all 5 of them) were out partying. They were supposed to call me but never did. Figures... I didn't expect them to actually call back... Noone ever does. Watched a few good Law & Order's... Some CSI... Basically a pretty boring night - especially for halloween. Kitten is driving me up the fucking wall. I'm not really sure how much more I can take.
Went up to Jacksonville on Friday night to Geoff's halloween party with Kitten - stayed for maybe 2 hours. She wanted to leave because she thought the "alternative" people were "weird." This...

Added functionality to side items. Adding content to the side blocks is _much_ easier now. Next is having multiple "sides" - this ought to be fun.
For some reason, the side blocks display upside down in Safari. They're not really upside down but the title is showing below the content. Quite odd. I'm not sure why this is happening. Oh well, I'll figure it out tomorrow. Time for Law & Order.

I added some much needed funtionality to the "Side Items" module today. Instead of having to manually type in the item you want to display, you can now choose from a list of modules and their content. Much easier than typing in an object name and trying to remember an ID. I used a little AJAX to accomplish this neat little trick. I would've hated to have to do it in straight javascript. What a pain.

Well, it looks like I've finally got this thing working... somewhat. There's still a long way to go, but I've made a lot of progress over the last couple months. The functionality is pretty basic and some things are still missing (trackback, comments, login functionality, etc) but it's coming together.
I'm still trying to find a new job somewhere outside of Florida. Preferably somewhere on the east coast (that's what the girlfriend wants) that doesn't get too cold. I'll be posting my resume here soon. The portfolio will come next.
