If you're using Safari (which I am -- I just can't stand that Firefox widgets look like they live in Windows 95 land), you have to get Safari Adblock. Ads suck. Don't put up with them. Sorry Windows users (aka "suckers"), this appears to be for OS X Safari only, right now.
I've been doing some work for Fourthdoor Creative and tonight I put together some slideshows for a website using SlideshowPro and some nifty php/htaccess coding. The project called for 23 slideshows, each consisting of three to ten pictures. So, since I'm lazy and didn't feel like writing 23 xml files for SSP, I wrote a little php script to parse through the directories and hand out xml files on the fly. Thru htaccess/mod_rewrite "RewriteRules", I redirect requests for the xml files to a script which returns xml for SSP and displays...

Ran software update and got new iTunes, QuickTime, and 10.4.4. I wasn't really expecting anything exciting. Fired up the old blog to fix a couple problems and I have HTMLArea in Safari now! Awesome!!! Not quite. There are still some weird little bugs that I'm just finding out about. This is the second time I've entered this post. Now I know that you can't switch to HTML mode.
Moving sucks. I Packed the bookshelf tonight. So much more to do. Moving day is approaching quickly.
Wrote a little shell script to clean up the jEdit backup files. Makes navigating in Finder much easier.
I'm stoked about the new job. Also scared to death. I'm sure everything will work out. It's normal to be nervous, right?
I think I'm going to check the blog into CVS tonight. Maybe install a couple for some friends - let 'em break it :) Night.

Yeah, Windows does some weird stuff but this is equally strange. I got this when I was deleting some files on my Mac today...

It's been a while since my last post.
I finally met Amy. Seems like a really nice girl. She has a great house in a really cool neighborhood. Maybe a block from the water, nice trees. Really great place. We decided on a date that I'd move, everything was starting to work out. When I went back to work three days later, I put in my notice. I Also notified my landlord that I'd would be leaving in two weeks. Two days later, Amy calls and tells me that she's getting another job in TAMPA and the room won't be available anymore. Nine days before I'm leaving, she's telling me, essentially, I'm homeless. I basically had one day to find an apartment because nowhere is open on Sunday and I have to work like hell this last week. I am supposed to start the new job next Tuesday so I need to be down there this weekend. I did manage to find a place and I overnight-ed my application and deposit tonight. With any luck, I'll get in. I was pretty pissed with Amy but it looks like it's...

Lots of stuff...
Week started off learning about a CSS/display bug in Netscape 8. The site I was working on was a fixed width and height centered in the viewport with a scrollable div that contains the primary content. I had to add a "overflow: hidden;" to the BODY tag to prevent IE 5.2 Mac from displaying unneeded scrollbars on the site. Doing that caused random rendering issues within the scrolling div. More often than not, anything inside a P tag would cut off about a half inch below where the P starts. Once in a while, the page would render correctly, but I'd say 90% of the time it was wrong. The content was there, it seemed to be hidden behind something though. If I could select something on the page and drag down, whatever was in the P would scroll! Most peculiar. Removing the "overflow: hidden;" fixed the problem. If anyone else has this problem, I hope this was useful :)

I've done so much on this in the last week. I stayed up until 8:30 AM on Saturday writing code. I have a serious problem :) Hopefully, in the next week I can get an installation script written and people can test it. Let me know if you'd like to help beta test.
So I'm like 95% sure that I'll be taking the job at Zgraph but I still haven't made arrangements for SOMEWHERE TO LIVE! I was supposed to meet Kelly's friend, Amy, last week but those plans fell through. She wasn't at work yesterday so Kelly couldn't get her number. Today, Amy was at work, but for some reason, I still don't have her phone number. I'm not really sure what's going on. I guess that I'll be going to Daytona this weekend with Kelly and Mark to meet her. I don't know how I feel about being stuck in Daytona all night though if Kelly and Mark decide to stay there. I certainly don't want to drive my decrepit old Jeep down there. I don't feel safe going over 55 in that...

After not having a stereo in my car since I got it 6 months ago, I finally installed one in it tonight. Well, I mostly sat there while Josh rigged it up to the fuse box. Someone really rigged this fucking car before I had it. They added a switch under the dash that, for some reason, turns on the backup lights... Not the tail lights, just the backup lights. They also hardwired the stereo into the fusebox because they must've done something to fuck up the normal stereo plugs. I say that because the normal stereo plugs don't work anymore - that's why we had to hardwire it back to the fusebox again. Quite a rig, but it fits with the rest of the damn thing and it works so I couldn't care less.
Over the weekend I installed the shades in my bedroom after having them for 2 weeks. What a pain in the ass. If I could find the asshole who invented the square headed screw, I swear, I would murder them with my bare hands. I had such big plans for the weekend... Mostly cleaning the...

I did some more work on my blog. It's coming along quite nicely. Got trackbacks working, finally. It wasn't too difficult once I wrapped my head around the whole concept. Pretty cool idea.
Kitten is really sick. She called in to work today and has been laying around watching Napoleon Dynamite all day long. Lucky her. Work was awful!
For some reason, any client who had a relatively new version of our E3 software were suddenly unable to take credit card payments. We found the problem and fixed it but we lost our whole day because of it. Strangely enough, the issue never occured before today. Everyone was completely bumfounded. Must've been some configuration change when the new firewall got installed.
I'm still looking for a new job. I sent my resume in to Digg not too long ago. I saw a post...

Well I got my car home. It's still somewhat broke down but at least it won't get towed. Talked with Kitten. Apparently, I did piss her off on Friday night. She called on Sunday morning to talk but got scared and hung up. I guess things have been "worked out." I still dunno. Things are pretty confusing with her. I'd like to see what happens but I'm wondering if anything will happen or if she'll just slowly drive me completely insane.
I really love Squidbillies. If you haven't seen it, you should check it out. Crazy redneck squids... That hate white people. Very amusing. I'm not sure when it comes on. Sometime on Sunday nights on Cartoon Network.
Tonight I'm going to try to get Trackbacks working on this damn thing. I don't imagine it'll be too difficult. Of course, it'll probably take two weeks instead of the ten minutes that I'm hoping for. We'll see.

I managed to waste my whole night working on this damn thing again. Well, that's not completely true... I did watch an episode of Quantum Leap that I'd never seen before.
This system is really starting to come together quite nicely. I still have TONS of work to do until it even starts to be ready for public use but I imagine it won't take too long. Seeing as I have nothing else to do - ever - this is pretty much all I do outside of work. Maybe this will get really popular and tons of people will start using it. I doubt it, but that would be pretty awesome.
That's all for tonight. Bye.

Added functionality to side items. Adding content to the side blocks is _much_ easier now. Next is having multiple "sides" - this ought to be fun.
For some reason, the side blocks display upside down in Safari. They're not really upside down but the title is showing below the content. Quite odd. I'm not sure why this is happening. Oh well, I'll figure it out tomorrow. Time for Law & Order.

Well, it looks like I've finally got this thing working... somewhat. There's still a long way to go, but I've made a lot of progress over the last couple months. The functionality is pretty basic and some things are still missing (trackback, comments, login functionality, etc) but it's coming together.
I'm still trying to find a new job somewhere outside of Florida. Preferably somewhere on the east coast (that's what the girlfriend wants) that doesn't get too cold. I'll be posting my resume here soon. The portfolio will come next.
